Vintage Gucci Loafers #ThriftScore
The thrift gods looked down on me and I was #Blessed
Just imagine browsing the isles of Savers Thrift and from a distance you see the golden hardware of a Gucci Loafer! That is what happened to me a couple weeks ago. As many of you know, I am an avid thrift store shopper and love the thrill of the hunt. I always find dupes and have even found a few Gucci shoes but none in my size. Well this time I struck gold, Gucci gold to be exact! The best part of it all? They were marked for $4.50! They need to be resoled and need a bit of leather conditioning but for a starting price under $5 I think I can swing it.
Finding quality shoes at the thrift store is not always an easy task, but I have outlined a couple tips to make it easier for you to find a #ThriftScore of your own.
Check one size below and above your normal size. The people sorting the shoes are not always looking that closely at sizes. In addition, people trying the shoes on don’t always put them back where they found them.
Piggybacking off of point number one, try the shoes on! Vintage and designer shoes all fit differently so you never know if something will fit until well… you try it on!
Walk around in them. Just as you would at DSW or Nordstrom, walk around and make sure they are comfortable. You usually have an advantage with vintage or thrifted shoes as they have already been broken in by someone else.
